Hi folks,
I meant to have this update out to you a couple of hours ago but then I ate pizza about it and forgot! We've all been there.
We are SO THRILLED! In 24 hours we've made it to more than 80% funded. This is just so great! Thank you all for backing, sharing, and talking about this campaign. We're loving watching The Crowned spread across social media! Keep up the fantastic work, we've got lots of stretch goals in the works that we can't wait to reveal!
We've had a couple of people ask about what system The Crowned uses so I thought I'd break that down briefly here. The Crowned is wholly its own thing with an original setting and fresh mechanics. Which means all the information you need to play the game will be inside the book you're helping make real with this campaign.
To break things down a bit further, The Crowned uses a d6 die pool to determine things like skill challenges and combat resolutions, which should be pretty familiar for anyone who has played TTRPGs in the past. The real fun comes from flexing those divine powers and performing a rote. Rotes are quick things, crafted in the moment by the player, that let you affect the reality of the game. You decide on the parameters of your rote (things like duration or distance) and then pay for them from a pool of divine points called your Aether pool. If you've got the Aether to pay for it you can do pretty much anything you'd like within the boundaries of your godhood. This pool not only ensures the game remains balanced while gods fling divine spells left and right, but it grants a vast amount of freedom to players to be creative and push the boundaries of the rules.
I hope this bit of insight answers some questions and makes you just as excited to play the game as we are!
A billion thanks!
Damon
